Thanks & News

The clocks have gone forward and spring is definitely in the air. We have had a few nice warm days which gets you thinking you should do those jobs you keep putting off. It is just so lovely to see all the spring flowers even on the cold, wet days. We have such a busy month ahead with the 100th celebrations it is going to wizz by. Please do come and join in with all these celebrations, we are very privileged to live here and remember the history and uniqueness of this village.

Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to you all for your support in everything that happens at the Congregational Church. It wouldn t be able to continue without you all.

We had great fun in February at the Shrove Tuesday celebrations with everyone taking part and especially the brave people who did our little pancake races.

This reminded me of dear Ellen from Valentine House who died last month. She loved coming to Coffee Mornings and would always have a go at anything, watching Ellen toss a pancake was a pure delight.

Mother s Day was lovely and we do thank Jenny Haggar for leading this service. A big thank you to Marie, Denise & Daphne who made the posies of flowers for us all and Denise for organising the refreshments. Thank you everybody who made cakes for this special day and for all those who came along.

Some of us were very privileged to have attended Ellen s funeral service. It was very beautifully done, with so many happy memories of Ellen s time since moving to Silver End. A big thank you to Valentine House for arranging all the service and for the beautiful flowers on top of Ellen s coffin made by the residents. Also for the afternoon tea which was served in Ellen s honour.

We have received sad news that Hazel has died. Hazel used to pop into coffee and chat occasionally and was a very kind lady.

We have heard no news about Pat Maholland s funeral. Gillian is now back from holiday and we will try to find out.

God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross. Colossians 2:13-15 (NLT)

EASTER TIDE Father, thank You that for our sake You made Christ to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Lord Jesus, thank You for dying at Calvary so we could be forgiven and receive eternal life. Holy Spirit, thank You for revealing the wonder of the cross to us. Amen.

Father God we thank you for the opportunities of serving You. Help us to share love, friendship and pray for those in need.

We pray for this village as we celebrate the centenary, we give thanks for our village. We have so much to be thankful for. This community is very much changed but it provides us with security and stability and the village history holds a uniqueness that we should all treasure. We pray for the Churches in Silver End and all Christians that they might show and practise their faith to all their family, friends and neighbours.

We pray for all who are grieving, especially Hazel s family and friends and also Ellen s friends and her niece, Doreen s and Pat s family. May they know a special touch of comfort and peace from God as they go through difficult days ahead.

We also lift before God those who continue to struggle and need our love, help and encouragements. We think of David who is in hospital and Judy, Val who has an important appointment coming up, Sheila who is struggling, Carol who is facing yet another operation. So lovely to hear Margaret was able to go outside for a little while in the sunshine. Brenda, Iris, and Erica. May the Lord bless and help each one.

Gracious Father, we pray for men and women who have dementia and their families. In the midst of frailty and confusion, may Your love touch their inner being and bring understanding and assurance of hope, so they can depend on You in this life and the one to come. By Your grace. Amen

He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them by name.

Psalm 147:3.4 This is a reminder to us of how precious and known each one is. He knows us all by name!
