HM The Queen Platinum Jubilee
What an amazing lady! Our Queen’s Service, Devotion, Selflessness and Discipline. 70 years of complete devotion, she has lived through such a changing world! When you consider and look back at her long life and what has happened not only in this country but the world. We can truly appreciate all she has been a part of and what she has meant to this country. How fortunate that we have had a Monarch that has helped hold this country together. Did you know that she has a very, very deep Faith in God? She never fails to share this during her Christmas broadcast. Her deep faith in God sustains her. We pray that the Lord will bless her richly through this glorious celebration and long may she be with us.
News & Thank You
My thanks to all those who came for the dedication service for the bench, in memory of John and Lyn Parker. It was so lovely to see so many come along and that John and Lyn’s family could come and share the service. A big thank you of course must go Charles deLacy who led this special service and shared with us all the work that they had both been involved in through the many years of service here and elsewhere. The weather was perfect which also added to the afternoon. Thank you very much for all the help in the kitchen with the teas and coffee’s, especially Pam who got busy with the teapot. Thank you for all the cakes provided, the Coffee and Walnut cake all went before I could even get a slice. Thanks to Allan, whilst the refreshments were being enjoyed we had a film show playing of John’s 50th Ministerial Anniversary party which was held at the church. Hilary kindly gave us a display board of photos of her Mum and Dad. Thank you.
A huge thank you to Daphne, who has worked tirelessly, in the church garden. She is continuing clearing up around the grounds. Daphne is now tackling the huge hedge that runs along the alley at the moment. She is sawing out huge branches from trees…..digging up stinging nettles around the back, after the church received a complaint. We are so indebted to her for the hours of work she is doing. She says she is enjoying herself! Another big thank you to Duncan next door, who has cut down all the conifers on the kitchen side of the church. Wow, what a difference that has made everything is so much brighter and it has opened up the path down the side of the church. As always we are so grateful for all the help you all give so willingly, week in and week out.
As I write this newsletter we are looking forward to celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee firstly on the 31st May for our special Coffee & Chat ‘Tea Party’ followed by the village celebrations on the 4th June. We do pray for good weather and that all the plans will go off safely, but most of all, that people will come out and have fun and enjoy the day. We seem to have so little to celebrate or lift our spirits these days. The news channels are frightful with so much doom and gloom and fear mongering for what might lie ahead. Whether it be monkey pox, the cost of living crisis, partygate, covid…So much sadness too, always tragic stories being shared, but never ever is there anything to celebrate, so let’s make the most of this special time and count our blessing, for we have so many.

PRAYERS
Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One; give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son…..
Give thanks and appreciate all we have, so many are worse off and struggling. Pray for those who live in constant pain and ill health, suffer mental health issues, struggling with grief, poverty, war, starvation. We may not always feel fortunate, but when you consider the wider picture. We are very blessed.
As we celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, we give thanks for Her Majesty. We give thanks for her service to this Country and especially for her Faith in God and sharing that faith with the Nation. We ask that God will bless her and keep her in good health, so that she may enjoy all the celebrations to mark this wonderful achievement.
We pray for all the activities during the Jubilee celebrations. We pray that God will guard and keep all from all harm, here in this village and throughout the Country. We remember and pray for the Police Force, the Armed Forces, Army, Airforce, Navy who will be very active throughout this special weekend. Pray for the rescue services Ambulance, and Fire.
Pray for the Church throughout this Country. As church’s shut and congregations diminish, we need revival for ourselves, but also pray that the Lord will equip leaders and raise up Evangelists to preach the Good News of the Gospel. Please pray for this fellowship, we find ourselves in the above position.
Give thanks for groups like C.Y.O. who do amazing work within schools, supporting and teaching our young people about Jesus in assemblies and as part of the National Curriculum. They work in many of our local schools, running Mentoring Groups and Lunch Clubs.
I make no apology for repeating these next prayers. Please pray for our Country, Parliament and the Government. As a country we ask God to grant us wisdom, as we go through some very difficult months ahead. We pray that God will equip those chosen to represent us in Parliament with great compassion, integrity and honesty, especially at this time of crisis for us here and the World.
Ukraine. This horrific war looks likely to roll on, the devastation and grief for thousands and thousands of people is just mind blowing. Pray for all! Pray for a peaceful conclusion very soon.
Remember those known to us personally and this fellowship who need our support and prayers at this time. We pray for Brenda, Judy, Roy, Rose, Margaret, Michael, Val, Jo. Give thanks that Jenny is so much better and has returned to coffee and chat. Remember all who grieve at this time, there are a number of people who have died locally and we pray they will know God’s comfort and support.
