A big thank you to all the groups and individuals who provided and decorated Christmas trees for the Festival of Christmas Trees, this year. Thanks too for the donations of Mince pies and Sausage rolls, they were very much appreciated. We kicked off the 1st day of Advent with our front windows decorated and designed by Karen as part of the village’s ‘Advent Windows’ around the village a new window appeared each day. This was a lovely idea that Marie Besant started last year and Karen took up the challenge. The church looked splendid, a lot of hard work goes into this annual event at a very busy time and we do especially thank Sarah and Leah who decorated the main church tree once again this year. Thank you to Allan for putting up and taking down various ‘Christmas Banners’ throughout December. Thanks too for everyone turning up to take down Christmas trees and help tidy the church up for the first services of 2020.

We also thank Allan for once again doing some maintenance jobs. He has fitted a new and safer lock in the disabled toilet and made the cupboard door fit in the kitchen so Doreen can get in‼ She will be pleased.

The church is very blessed to have such dedicated people who will give up their own time to do what they can to serve this church and be part of the community. May God Bless each and everyone.

A New Year’s Prayer

Lord, You make all things new. You bring hope alive in our hearts and cause our Spirits to be born again. Thank you for this New Year, for the potential it holds. Come and kindle in us a mighty flame so that in our time, many will see the wonders of God and live forever to praise Your glorious name.        Amen                       (lords-prayer-words.com)

Suggested Prayers

Lord, we commit our lives to you afresh as we begin 2020. You know everything that lies ahead, so please prepare, equip and strengthen us for the challenges, joys and sorrows that may come. Please help those in authority and leadership to make wise decisions and live with integrity. Amen

(CARE prayer Diary)

Lord we lift our Country before you, at the start of this New Year. We pray for the Government and especially the Prime Minister, as we start the process of leaving the European Union. We pray that people will come together and there will be healing and hope for those who feel let down and forgotten.

Lord we pray for revival; for tens of thousands of people to turn to You for salvation. Even though some say Christian faith is waning in our society we believe that You are making a way in the wilderness and releasing streams of faith in many lives. Amen.

Pray for our fellowship and especially for the new Family Celebration services. Pray for Malcolm as he leads these services, that he may know God’s discernment.

Please keep praying for this village, pray for your neighbours, friends and relatives and all who live here. This month we especially pray for the people who live in Temple Lane, Magdalene Crescent, Valentine Way, and School Road. Lord help us to share our faith, may our lives radiate Your love and truth.

Our church family –We pray for all who are grieving. Especially the family of Ron Plumb who suddenly died just before Christmas. Also the Parsley family, and Peter Hope and family, Pray that they may be comforted and strengthened by God’s presence with them and their families. We continue to remember those in our fellowship who live with pain and other physical problems. Pray for our friends in Residential Care. May God’s love touch their innermost being and give life, strength and hope.

The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and for evermore.

Psalm 121; 7-8 NIV
