News & thanks

Sorry for the lateness of this newsletter. Although April was a quiet month regarding the church diary, it has been a very busy month for me personally. We had the school Easter holidays, which gave us the opportunity to Seal the Wooden floors at the church. I have to say that without Daphne and Jane s help I would struggle to get this done. They worked so hard helping me prepare for the sealer to go on and then between them they applied this to the floor, whilst I did some sorting out around the church. It was a good day spent and we had the satisfaction of seeing the floors all looking pristine for a little while. Thank you very much Daphne Gray and Jane Holland.

Church Garden, Daphne has been busy filling up the green bin every fortnight. She has prepared the ground alongside the church where the conifers were and sowed grass seed which is already coming up. She has also planted some foxgloves along the fence there, which Shelia and Trevor Moss donated to us. Duncan next door very kindly keeps an eye out for the church. He tries to keep the front hedge looking nice especially after the youngsters push into it.

Church Painting

As previously mentioned the church should be painted this month. The work is due to start on the Monday 13th May, so please expect scaffolding to go up around the front of the church. This will happen a few days before. Thank you very much to those of you who have donated to this, it will help tremendously.

Coffee & Chat

Thank you to everyone who has helped and mucked in with washing up, clearing tables, taking tea towels home to be washed and generally been there. Thank you very much for all the cakes that have been donated and for Mandy spending time finding quizzes to entertain us, we are very, very fortunate to have such kind people. Thanks to Denise and Mandy who organised and covered when one or the other is away. It is just so lovely to see you all come along each week for a chat and some company. Look out for another dancing morning coming soon, thanks to Debbie.

God is Working His purpose out

A year ago I wrote about Being Prepared! We had just had a week away in the caravan and it hadn t gone quite to plan. Well guess what? Almost a carbon copy, we are having major work done to the inside of our house, so we thought it would be good to be away from the dust and noise. The stress beforehand of Being Prepared for the builder and clearing our house of furniture and flooring plus trying to pack a caravan to go away and the weather being soooo cold and the heating not working in the caravan again this year. To say the least it was stressful and kind of still is. We have an empty shell of a home at the moment and nothing is normal and will remain that way for sometime, even the dogs don t like the fact that nothing is normal or routine. We don t like being outside our comfort zone, the worries of this life, and the challenges of this life are faced in different ways by different people, for some they seem to just glide along and for others they struggle. Usually I am quite an easy going person, but I feel I am easily stressed and wound up these days. I am just so thankful that I know that God is in all this. Often, we think God isn t there, that we have been abandoned and at these times we need reminding that God is there and He is working His purpose out, even when it doesn t seem obvious or in a way that we would like.

Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. John 15:4-

The Love of God

I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us. Isaiah 63:7

Our Prayers: Pray continually 1 Thess. 5:17

Give God thanks for this wonderful month of May. The greenest hedgerows, glorious trees bursting new green leaves and blossom. Birds singing and gathering nest materials, How wonderful, how marvellous is this amazing world we live in. Thank you Lord.

Father God we thank you for this village, and for all who live here. We pray for each person, that you will touch them with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Please meet their needs and help them to know You as their Father and Jesus as their Saviour through the work of the Holy Spirit. We pray this prayer for all our surrounding villages and towns also.

A year ago we were thinking about King Charles 111 Coronation and all the wonderful celebrations that took place. We give thanks for our King and especially pray for him as he undertakes treatment for cancer. We give you thanks that he seems to be on the road to recovery. We pray for all the Royal family and especially the Princess of Wales. Katherine as she too undertakes treatment for cancer.

Please remember Jean and her family after losing Michael. He died recently, please support Jean with your ongoing prayers. We remember too all those who have lost loved ones recently.

We lift prayers of Hope, Healing and Blessings for: Edward, Ted, Barbara, Norma, Doreen, Judy & David, Val & Geoff, Brenda,& Shelia. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You, may He shine his face upon you, and be gracious unto you.

We Pray for this World, have mercy upon us Lord. Please forgive, and help us to follow you. There is so much to pray about ..

Rejoice always, praying without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
