THANKS & NEWS

This last month has proved to be very busy and lots of people have been active. We do thank all those who were very much involved with our wonderful Harvest Celebration Services. It was an extremely busy weekend and we do thank all those who gave up their time to decorate the church so beautifully on the Saturday. Sunday was an early start for those cooking breakfast and looking after people. The church was full, it was so lovely to welcome Marie and Jamie’s families for Elsie’s Blessing. Thank you to all the Guides and Leaders, who tackled all the clearing up afterwards. The tea in the evening was really enjoyed by everyone and we must thank especially Pauline and Karen who organised this. Thanks too for all those who helped with cooking and preparing. Friends of Pauline and Malcolm who also got stuck in, this is so appreciated. Thank you Malcolm and the TURC’s choir who really brought the whole day of celebration to a wonderful uplifting time of Praise, Worship and Rededication. We give all the glory to God. The offering that day was £382.16, £300 of this was given to the Bible Society. All the food gifts were collected by Homestart, they were delighted. Thank you, very much, to all those who gave so generously.

Other News and Thanks - Karen has recovered and restored 6 chairs and made a cover for the PA equipment. Allan has worked very hard over the last few weeks giving the men’s toilet a total refit, he is almost there, just the door to repaint, as I type this.

We are very blessed to have such talented people to help keep our buildings in good order. Thank you very much!

‘’I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus.’        Philemon 4,5 (NIV)

Suggested Prayers

We give all the honour and praise to God for our Harvest Celebration weekend, we were blessed and encouraged beyond measure.

REMEMBRANCE DAY Lord, we gratefully remember those who died in the service of their country during two world wars and in many conflicts since. Please comfort those who mourn and grant healing and peace to all who have been wounded in body, mind or spirit. In Jesus’ name Amen

30 Years since the fall of the Berlin Wall – Prince of peace, we give thanks for the freedom that came following the demolition of the Berlin Wall. We praise You for answering prayers, for bringing deliverance to millions in former Soviet Union countries and for the role of many churches in this victory over oppression and fear. Amen

Please keep praying for this village, pray for your neighbours, friends and relatives and all who live here. This month we especially pray for the people who live in Silver Street and Francis Way.

Remember also the other churches and the close bonds we share. We pray too for the organisations which meet within the church halls. Help us to forge new relationships and ways of welcoming them to closer ties within the church.

Pray for the Congregational Federation churches in our Eastern Area, many like this church are small and independently serving their local communities. Pray that the Lord will guide and bless them.

We pray for this Country as Parliament seems to be so much at odds with each other and the Country. Lord of the nations, we plead for Your mercy and grace in this time of upheaval and uncertainty. Please help those in authority and affected by the outcome of Brexit to speak and act wisely, with a spirit of integrity, goodwill and cooperation. Amen.

Our church family –We pray for all who are grieving. Pray that they may be comforted and strengthened by God’s presence with them and their families. We continue to remember those in our fellowship who live with pain and other physical problems. Pray for our friends in Residential Care. May God’s love touch their innermost being and give life, strength and hope.

‘Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion…therefore I hope in Him’                 Lamentations 3:22-24 NKJV
